BLUE - FALL HOMEWORK
BLUE FALL - FALL
Please plan to spend 5 or 10 minutes a day with music. If you ever have questions please ask me during class time to explain. Please go over the music booklet once per day.
For the FALL term the goal is to continue to build a repertoire of songs and positive musical experiences.
JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH: For the Fall term we will listen to the music of Johann Sebastian BACH. Please play Bach music in the home while the children are colouring their weekly handouts.
The piece of music by Bach I want the children to recognize is the MINUET IN G. The BRANDENBURG CONCERTOS are also fun to listen to while colouring the weekly handouts.
For the FALL TERM we will also be learning about the instruments of the WOODWIND FAMILY.
WORKBOOKS
By the end of the year the students will learn to read and write music upon the staff in three full major scales (F, G and C majors). They will learn about the Bb, and the F#, and will learn many new rhythms by the end of the year. For the FALL term we will start to write music in the key of F major.
RECORDER:
They will also continue to play the recorder. The recorder is an excellent first instrument for learning how to read music. When playing the recorder think of the letter names (not the solfege names). And play the new recorder song three times each day. They only need to play the songs in the recorder section, not in the theory section.
We will start to learn songs in the KEY OF F MAJOR!
Remember we use two names for a note.
Above the music staff (solfege) :we will write the solfege names (d=doh, r =re, m=mi.....etc. ) in lower case letters.
Under the music staff (pitch names) : Then, for recorder we will write the pitch names in upper case letters under the notes on the staff. (F G A C D) This year the children will learn to play in three different keys by the end of the year.
STAFF BUILDER PAGES: On the staff builder pages that I hand out they are exercises, not songs, so only add PITCH NAMES under the notes, no hand sign names.
