Notes from Miss Jess
Lesson One - Sept Notes:
Hello everyone!
It truly is such an honour to be entrusted with Mr. I's Musical Rainbow legacy. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how wonderful he is! The Musical Rainbow program was where my own music journey started (nearly 20 years ago now!), and has always held such a special place in my life.
We had a great first week of classes, getting to know each others' names and getting started on singing together. Between visits from a bumblebee and a goose, using shakers and drums, and playing games, each class was so much fun!
All the classes are learning Tell Me the Continents and Blue class started to learn a Swahili song called Pole Pole. Yellow and Green classes will also be learning Pole Pole next week, both links will lead you to YouTube videos to hear the songs!
If you haven't ordered a class booklet yet and would like to, please connect with Mr. I as soon as possible. All classes are already using the workbooks, and will need those as we continue through the year. Of course, the homework pages will all be included for download as well.
I am looking forward to a great year with all of you! See you next week!
Miss Jess
Lesson Two
Hello everyone!
Welcome Red Class students! We had such a great time meeting each other and singing songs together. I am looking forward to getting to know you all more through the next few weeks!
All Yellow, Green, and Blue classes have now started singing Pole Pole ("POH-lay"), a song where we learn different animal names in Swahili! You could ask your children this week: which animal is a twiga? (giraffe). Or what was the elephant called? (tembo).
Students all also learned about the pipe organ! (page 6 in the workbooks!). Here is a video of Toccata & Fugue (composed by Bach!) being played on a pipe organ: [video link] Consider playing this as your child does their colouring page this week!
Green class has begun learning the recorder: with the notes C and A. Remember to practice every day!
Blue class is reviewing songs they learned last year, as well as F, G, A, C, D on the staff!
Reminder to all Wednesday classes: the coming Wednesday is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and as such there will be NO classes.
General Reminder: Yellow, Green, and Blue classes use the workbooks during class! Please ensure your child has their workbook with them!
Have a great week!
Miss Jess
Lesson Three
We hade fun week! The Green class started learning the Llamas and Alpacas song from South America. Check all streaming services to hear this song from Mr. I and the Rainbow Singers.
Wednesday was the holiday, but BLUE students should still review the homework send by Mr. I in the newsletter.
If you all colour the Electric Keyboard pic you will get a sticker in the next class.
Lesson 4
I am away this week to visit my family in Nova Scotia! Please do follow Mr. I's homework pages.
Great news - Mr. I will be there to teach for me this week - You will have fun!
